Mobelkant: The Only Edgeband Manufacturer Applying UV Lacquer on Solid Colors Without Surcharge

As you know, edgeband manufacturers offer products in different price categories. Pricing strategies are influenced by both formulation costs and market dynamics. However, if we exclude very niche products and special colors, we can broadly define three main pricing categories in our industry:
WHITE – SOLID COLORS – DECORATIVE (WOODGRAIN) COLORS
White is always the most economical category — and this is often driven more by market expectations than by actual production cost. In fact, due to expensive components such as TiO₂, white can sometimes be more costly to produce than high-volume solid colors.
On the other hand, there are certain solid colors whose production cost is almost identical to decorative colors, due to lower production volumes, special pigments, and higher production complexity.
For example:
Producing 20 pallets of grey may be more economical than producing 20 pallets of white. However, producing small quantities (e.g. 16 boxes) of special solid colors such as terracotta, aqua green or red can cost the same as — or even more than — producing the same quantity of a woodgrain design like Sonoma.
Despite these realities, it is not practical to price each color individually. Therefore, the industry standard remains: white, solid, and decorative colors.
The Mobelkant Difference
The reason we are writing this article is to highlight a key differentiator:
👉 Mobelkant is the only edgeband manufacturer in the world that applies UV lacquer on solid colors without charging any surcharge.
This point is extremely important.
Because:
- Applying lacquer adds significant cost
- Lacquered surfaces are technically considered a higher-end product
- This level of finish is usually associated with decorative products
In other words:
👉 We produce solid colors at decorative-level quality, but sell them at solid color prices.
We do not receive lacquer for free —
👉 we simply choose not to pass this cost on to our customers.

Why UV Lacquer?
The answer is simple:
👉 PROTECTION
Main benefits:
- Scratch resistance
- UV protection (prevents fading)
- Resistance to moisture and chemicals
Conclusion
Isn’t it a significant advantage to receive all these benefits at the same price?
While lacquer may be slightly visible on some colors, we believe the durability and performance advantages far outweigh any minor visual difference.
Mobelkant will continue to deliver higher quality at competitive prices.
